Fun fact...

So, here's an interesting little trick for  you. I tried it and it works. Easy caramel.

Ingredients :

1 8 ounce can sweetened condensed milk

Direction :

1. Immerse closed can on its side in a pot of boiling water.
2. Leave on a simmer or light boil for 2 hours topping off with water as needed. Be careful and don’t let the water dry out.
3. Remove from heat and let cool thoroughly before opening can. Condensed milk should be thick and a nice caramel color. Don’t open the can while its still hot, I hear that can be very, very messy.

If you let it boil a bit longer, it will get a bit thicker, stands to reason, eh?

Even though, like I've said on many occasions, I am a big proponent of all things homemade, sometimes we must simply be realistic. Is caramel from cream, sugar, etc, even better than from sweetened condensed milk? Perhaps, but sometimes, you just gotta take the path of least resistance.

Buon Appetito!
